Bill Meek
has been involved in bluegrass music for more than 50 years. He is an award winning master musician playing fiddle, mandolin, and guitar. Bill came from a very musical family, and began playing fiddle at the age of 7. His father, a violin maker encouraged him to learn the fiddle, that he did and more. Through out Bill's musical career he has earned hundreds of awards for his music, and is an accomplished multi-state fiddle and mandolin champion. Bill Meek is better known for and is fully "credited," for teaching and training two of the hottest and most phenominal musicians to ever come out of the East Coast, they are: Douglas Meek, and Brandon Meek. Early on in his career he started out playing square dances and other small venues, and has played in many bands over the years. In the early 60's Bill played with groups such as: Mountain Strings, The Country Five, and The Cove Valley Boys. In the 80's and early 90's Bill played with a number of the top bluegrass groups in the York, PA. area, The 7&7, Sherwood Country, The Bluegrass Breakmen, and The Red Taylor Band.
After playing in band after band, Bill realized that his two grandsons, Doug then age 6 and Brandon age 9 were taking interest in bluegrass music and excelling in fiddle and banjo. So in 1994 Bill decided it was time to form a band around his two grandsons, and everyone in The Mid-Atlantic region knows that turned out to be Mid-Atlantic Super Group: The Fiddle For Fun Band, now known as "CASHERS FLAT". Bill Meek plays bluegrass in the traditional style and was influenced mainly by his father William Meek sr., other influences include Mac Wiseman, Bobby Hicks, Kenny Baker, Chubby Wise, and Tater Tate. Bill Meek's knowledge, expertise and years of musical wisdom has created one of the most sought after and number one bluegrass bands in the country...CASHERS FLAT!
