      Douglas Meek is "The Backbone of Cashers Flat". When the word "Fiddle Player" arises in a conversation, the first name mentioned is...nationally acclaimed bluegrass and country fiddle player Doug Meek. The East Coast is proud to claim Doug Meek as one of "The North East's hottest fiddle players in Decades". Doug made his national television debut as The Apollo's "Star of Tomorrow" on The Apollo Theater's syndicated television show.. "Showtime at The Apollo" in New York City, on Sept.. 28, 2004. Since the Apollo, Doug has established himself as one of the country's top up and coming leading fiddle players, at the age of 19 and has decided on a professional musical career, he is also considering working as a sessions musician as well. He has made quite a name for himself nationally, and he's not stopping there! Musically, Doug has accomplished more by the age of 18 than most musicians hope to achieve in a life time. His unimaginable talent, intense drive, and natural ability have earned him the highest respect in bluegrass music. While performing in Roanoke, VA. at Roanoke's Fiddle Fest in July 2003, Doug met up with 9 time grammy award winner Bobby Hicks, whom quickly became very close friends, and now they can occasionally be seen performing together on the bluegrass circuit in Asheville, NC. and in Nashville, TN. Since Roanoke, under Bobby Hicks's guidance, Doug has developed and fine tuned his style and technique, and is now totally dominating the Bluegrass circuit with his absolutely "Incredible" 5-string Fiddle playing.

     Doug was officially ranked 5th best in the nation as "Master of Bluegrass Fiddle", after competing against seasoned, adult State and National Fiddle Champions from across the country at The Roanoke Masters Invitational's in Roanoke,VA. on July 26, 2003. By the age of 12, Doug was the reigning Maryland State Fiddle Champion 4 yrs. running, and was awarded the Maryland State "Grand" Fiddle Champion title in 2000. Doug is also the Maryland State Mandolin Champion for 2003. Other titles include PA. State Fiddle Champion 3 yrs running and he is also Mid - Atlantic Grand Fiddle Champion, and West Virginia's State Fiddle Champion. Doug is part of the super-charged power house that fuels Cashers Flat, and is a very versatile musician in the band playing, fiddle, mandolin, bass, and also flatpicks one mean guitar. Doug has built quite an impressive resume over the years, and it continues to grow by the day. His styles of bluegrass fiddle include: old time, traditional, and progressive bluegrass. Other areas of interest, ecspecially on guitar include, Jazz and the Delta Blues. His main influences are: Bobby Hicks, Buddy Spicher, Jason Carter, Sam Bush, Glen Duncan, Bryan Sutton, Jerry Douglas and Shawn Lane. Doug has been performing on stage since the age of 3, he is a co-founder of Cashers Flat, and has been the leader of the band since it's begining in 1994. Doug is now one of the nation's "Hottest Fiddle Players," and was personally encouraged by one of the most influential musicians in Bluegrass and Country music today, "Glen Duncan" in considering a career as a "Sessions Musician." So keep a close eye on Doug , he is well on his way to becoming one of Bluegrass & Country music's greatest Super Stars!
